This apartment is our family's home as much as it is an airbnb space. For us, the best thing about this apartment is the peace of mind and the view. However, it's also a most comfortable, well-equipped space located right at the town's centre, above a mall and supermarket and virtually in front of Ponta Delgada's large natural pool. The garage spot is most useful. Please note that late check-ins between 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM incur a late check-in fee of 20 euros. After 10:30 PM, the late check-in fee is 30 euros, which is charged at the time of check-in. We would like to inform you that, as of January 1, 2025, a new law has come into effect in the Azores, which requires the charge of a tourist tax of 2 euros per night, per guest, for the first 3 nights of their stay. This charge will be applied to all guests, unless they meet one of the exemption criteria set out in the legislation. Exemptions: The following categories are exempt from the tourist tax: a) Guests under the age of 13; b) Guests whose stay is motivated by the need to receive medical services, for the duration of the necessary treatment plus one additional night, with this exemption extending to one person accompanying the patient (even if the companion does not stay overnight at the establishment due to health reasons); c) Guests with a physical disability of 60% or greater; d) Residents of the Azores. Required Documentation for Exemption: To qualify for an exemption, the following documentation will be required at the time of payment: a) For guests under the age of 13: Citizen card or passport; b) For guests receiving medical services: A copy of the medical appointment or service document, with the date clearly indicated; c) For guests with a disability of 60% or greater: A document proving the disability; d) For residents of the Azores: An identification document showing the place of residence (such as a citizen card, identity card, residency certificate, or proof of address).
Ponta Delgada is the island's capital, for what that's worth. Although local village festivities are often more fun, bars and concerts in the main city are always more sophisticated. There's a mall, fancy restaurants, varied tourism services, and so on. The view of Lagoa do Fogo is quite splendorous all year round, and both the Avenue and Marina/Portas do Mar (both right at the building's door) make for very pleasant walks. The natural pool, Pesqueiro, across the street, is as beautiful as it is handy. Unfortunately, São Miguel's public transportation is highly underdeveloped, so we strongly advise you to rent a car. We provide a garage spot, which is an invaluable asset at this town's centre.
