Escape the bustle yet stay within reach of the charm. Casa Azul is a beautifully renovated townhouse nestled in Tavira's historic old town. Just a 5-minute walk from the riverside and the bustling cafes, restaurants, and bars. Immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of a private garden oasis, with a brand-new pool, or throw open the patio doors for seamless indoor-outdoor living. Renovated from top to bottom to provide good modern amenities like fibre broadband, mosquito screens, eco-friendly amenities like solar-powered hot water and drinkable tap water, strong water pressure, and heat pump units in every room that provide both air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter. Plus a cozy wood-burning stove for winter stays. Unwind in 2 light and airy bedrooms, one with a king-size bed (1st floor) and another with twins (ground floor), both with their own bathrooms and air conditioning. The spacious lounge features a dedicated workspace, Smart TV and French doors to a balcony that is perfect for enjoying beautiful sunsets. Whip up delicious meals in the fully equipped, large kitchen or on the BBQ All you have to do is choose between dining inside looking out over the lush garden, or under the stars amongst the twinkling garden lights. The ferry to the beach is a 10-minute walk and within a minute's stroll is a restaurant, 2 bakeries, a bar, and a mini grocery store. There is no need for a car. The train from Faro stops at Porta Nova station, a 4-minute walk. If you have a car, Casa Azul is just outside the paid parking zone so it is free to park in the street.
We have been in love with Portugal and exploring this amazing country since the 1980s. Eventually, we took the plunge and moved here. We chose Tavira as it has beautifully preserved its ancient sophisticated charm and it is also well known for its program of cultural events and festivals throughout the year. Before moving to Tavira we holidayed in over 20 properties throughout the town ourselves. So when it came to creating a holiday let for guests we had a good checklist of what to do and not do! We hope you enjoy Casa Azul as much as we did living there. We now live in our new renovation project - a 132 year old barn on the riverside, just outside Tavira. So, we are on hand should any issues arise or if you would just like a bit of local knowledge…
Casa Azul is located on the less commercialised side of the river. And it is the side of the river that gets the sun all year round. Many of the neighbours are elderly Portuguese who still live a traditional lifestyle. On summer evenings you will find people sitting out on their doorsteps catching up on the local gossip! The immediate vicinity is very quiet at night. However, within a 5-minute stroll, you will find many of Tavira’s best restaurants and bars. There are a number of hidden parks and cafes in the back streets to discover. Within a two-minute walk are a mini supermarket, a traditional Portuguese bar, a very popular restaurant with the locals, and one of Tavira’s best bakeries. The ferry to the beach is 10 minutes away, just over the Roman bridge.
