Originally the farmhouse was a grade school before becoming our family home almost 200 years ago. Today the home still exudes Azorean charm and is fully equipped with modern conveniences. Casa Pereirinha is perched on a hill with Northern views of the sparkling Atlantic and our neighbor island, São Jorge. Eastern views encompass sun dappled landscapes at sunrise with pine tree sprinkled emerald hills. Breathtaking hiking trails for all skill levels are steps from the front door, literally! Getting Around: We recommend a car to see the island although you can walk 10 - 15 minutes to the center of town (4 minutes by car), visit natural swimming pools or ferry dock (AtlanticoLine). For your convenience there is a private driveway for a small vehicle, although you may find parking on the street next to the café easier (approximately 2 houses down from the house). From the house there are several hiking trails featuring beautiful wild flowers, windy paths along farm fields and ribeiras/rivers. The natural swimming pools (poças) are down the street, approximately 1 km down the hill. The main road leading to the mountains and lakes is only 400m from the home.

The farmhouse is located just 2km from the center of town (10-15 minute walking). The swimming pools are 1.4 km from the farmhouse. The grocery stores and restaurants are 2-3 km away. Hiking trails are just meters from the front door. We recommend renting a car to see the island and to fully enjoy getting around. Rentals cars may be limited during peak season, so book in advance.
