Nice to meet you! We are Peter and Lineke from the Netherlands. On the 8th of April 2022 we started this great new adventure in Portugal, toghether with our super sweet and well trained 12 year old Belgian Malinoise dog Amber. Here we are the blessed owners of The house of the three Marias. Ready to welcome guests from all over the world. The House of the three Marias (AL/24419) is a lovingly restored traditional stone built farmhouse on the edge of the small village of Salaborda Nova in central Portugal. In the past had been a house and shop and lived in by three sisters all called Maria, which is why it is called House of the three Marias. Take care driving round the narrow corner to get to our house. On offer is friendly hospitality at this small (bicycle friendly) B&B. A quiet sunny place, surrounded by forests and nature, with a flower filled garden and places to relax both inside and outside. There are 4 guest rooms, all with double beds and en-suite bathroom. Room 4 is a family room with a double bed and a bunk bed for 2 children. A delicious continental breakfast is included (served between 8.30 and 10.00) changing every day and season; yoghurt with fresh fruits and homemade granola, overnight oats sweetned with raw honey of our own bees, fruit juices, home made preserves (we have kiwifruit, figs, persimmon, quince, cherries and citrus tree. The shared breakfast-/relaxroom has a shared small fridge for storing food during your stay. Please feel free to use the BBQ. We can provide you with plates, glasses and cutlery. We hope you have a pleasant stay.

The house is on the edge of a small rural quiet and peaceful village with no cafe or shop but does have fresh air, peace and quiet and a place to see and meet the Portuguese back country, unchanged over the years and great for a lot of outdoor activities as hiking, cycling (close to the N2) etc. If you look for a bit more buzz It is near to local towns with restaurants, bars, shops and weekly markets and supermarkets. The praia fluvials of Mosteiro (5 minutes by car), Praia das Rocas (15 minutes by car) are great places to cool down on a hot day. There are forest walks and mountainbike routes from the house and a waterfall is 15 minutes down a track, the route filled with the scent of eucalyptus and pine.
