The YMCA is the largest and oldest non-profit association in the world dedicated to youth.

The space where the YMCA Camp Alambre is implemented was thought to be the gateway to Arrábida. It was created in 1998 by the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) in order to raise awareness of nature conservation and value protected areas as places of high national interest, such as the Arrábida Natural Park. In this scope the space would serve to house researchers, scientists and a forest ranger offering a space of total abstraction and calm, where work had the minimum of interruptions. The project was canceled and the park closed for almost 10 years. In 2008 the YMCA Setúbal with the support of the Setúbal City Council and the ICNF, becomes the managing entity and investor for the recovery of the bungalows and the Environmental Park. The Importance of the Alambre Environmental Park The YMCA Camp Alambre is located in the Arrábida Natural Park. The YMCA Setúbal assumes the responsibility of welcoming and informing all those who look for the Arrábida Natural Park as a tourist destination. Inform and offer Nature Tourism services through a group of partners namely WIND-CAM. The ability to concentrate a wide range of tourism products represents a major added value for local and regional development. The YMCA Setúbal develops associated services such as catering, hospitality, nature activities, handicrafts and other regional products.

YMCA Camp Alambre is located in the center of a National Park, within forty minutes car drive from Lisbon international airport.
