The Farmhouse Apartment is large and tastefully decorated. It has an outdoor patio and a BBQ. Free wifi. 10 minutes to Braga and 20 mins to Guimarães. Virginia provides guests with afternoon tea on arrival. She also provides fresh bread rolls daily - brought by the baker. The pool is a one minute walk from the house - just follow the pergola - there are 3 steps down a ladder to the pool and it has a terrace around it, with sun loungers and tables and chairs. It's a pretty area, with stunning views. All lit up, including the pool at night. There is an extra BBQ and fridge here at the pool, so guests can spend quality time here. There are woodland walks behind the house, leading to Sameiro and Bom Jesus. The farm has a little flock of Cameroon sheep - guests can accompany Virginia when she is feeding the sheep. There are 2 good local restaurants 5 minutes from the house and plenty of cafes/restaurants/a spa in Taipas, 5 minutes away. The nearest town is Longos, down the hill. It has 3 cafes and 1 bakery. It also has a small supermarket. It is a safe location as it is walled in. It has stunning views and is beautiful by day and by night. If you like to be in the country but near culture and cities - this is perfect!

I am Northern Irish but have lived here in Portugal for 26 years. My husband is Portuguese and we have 3 children. I enjoy eating out, cinema and walks. Now my passion is our little flock of Cameroon sheep. My family (ie. myself, husband and 3 children) live at the farmhouse. Our entrance is at a different side of the house to guests - so everyone has their privacy, although you will occasionally see us around, so if you have any questions, we're easy to find. We have 2 dogs - a Golden Retriever and a Labrador - I take them for walks every day. if you would like to venture out, get to know the most scenic paths through the forest behind the house - then come along.

There is a lot around here - churches, monasteries, historical sites (2 Celtic settlements 5 mins away). We're in the country but very near Braga and Guimarães (15/25 minutes). The beach is 35 minutes away and Gerês natural park is only 40 minutes away. We are surrounded by good restaurants and cafes. Taipas, 5 minutes away, is a spa town and has a pretty indoor heated pool with jacuzzi, sauna, steam room etc. There are various castles - one in Guimarães and one in Póvoa de Lanhoso and many palaces and museums. Taipas has a weekly Monday market and every town has their market day. Barcelos is the biggest, on Thursdays. Porto is only a one hour drive and it's possible to drive to the Douro and be back in time for tea. This is a very traditional farming community and so if you want to get to know the real Portugal this is a good place to be. The farm is set in the heart of the countryside but close to the towns of Braga, Guimarães, Taipas and only half an hour from the sea.
