Historical Heritage: - The first Abbey of Cister in Portugal – S. João de Tarouca – is dated from 1140. A rare example of Romanesque-gothic transition that preserves a lot of the original architecture; - Salzedas Monastery: abbey of Cister of the 12th century built by D. Teresa, wife of Egas Moniz; - Fortified bridge of Ucanha: unique example in the country - Ferreirim Convent; - Visigoth Church of Balsemão; - Cathedral and Castle, Museum, Our Lady of Remédios Shrine in Lamego Art - In the Monastery Church of São João de Tarouca we can admire the most important pictorial work of Grão Vasco (Vasco Fernandes) – the picture of San Peter – as other works from Gaspar Vaz and Cristóvão de Figueiredo; - In the Convent of Ferreirim: valuable works of the School of the Masters of Ferreirim, Cristóvão de Figueiredo, Gregório Lopes and Garcia Fernandes; - Museum of Lamego: paintings, furniture, carving and sacred art.
