Rosa do Coracao de Jesus, our grandmother, lived in this house since 1935 until her passing. Built from scratch, by our grandfather's hands, the house lodged a family of 5. Because the zone of Monte village where it stands is known as Canto, she was soon identified by Rosa do Canto, or Rose (in english translation) of Canto. This is the family tribute to our grandparents who fought their entire lives. Back then it was hard, living from the few resources that land could provide. Pico island is a "young" volcanic island. Basaltic rocks are the more prominent around. Whatever grew from it was treasured and nourished as a father treasures a son, and made a simple life a hard but happy life. From the fruit trees (18 varieties) that still stand to this day, vineyard is the most notorious of all. All of them are available to you.
