Great area for beaches, nearest is Salema, a fishing village 5 min drive. Most have lovely restaurants and cafes. Huge waves on West Coast beaches, 20 min drive. Lots of golf in the area. Cycling and walking tours. Lagos is an ancient city with mainly pedestrianised streets within the castle walls. There are local horse riding stables for trekking. Surf schools for surfing hire and lessons. Scenic boat tours of the grottos are also available in Lagos. Sagres is also a popular town for beaches and restaurants. Not forgetting Burgau and Luz. There are some lovely walks across the warm sleepy countryside down from the villa to Figuera for coffee and a swim in the sea. In peak season there are kids clubs,football,golf and tennis lessons nearby. Supermarket with bakery and fresh fruit and veg 5 min drive and local fish and meat market in Vila do Bispo (10 min drive). Beautiful town Lagos with shops and restaurants and boat trips 20 min drive. Charming Sagres a small town, is a 20 min drive. Loved by surfers. Gorgeous beach - Mareta - small bars, boutique hotel, very relaxed. Best bar in the world - Chinguito! Car hire recommended. Two adult bikes plus helmets for guest use in the villa. There is a serious go karting track at Portimao.
