The house was built in 1864-66 and is part of a small farm property, situated on the bank of Göta Älv, one of Sweden's largest rivers. The surrounding countryside is farmland and forest with lots of lakes. You have the upstairs to yourself, fully self-contained, with a private entrance. Please note that the staircase is a little steep.
The property has been in the family since the 1890s and we strive to preserve the cultural heritage of the house by keeping the authentic design and materials where possible. We have recently started a restoration project including re-painting the exterior in traditional linseed oil paint.
Other: please note that you have to climb a fairly steep set of stairs to get to the flat.
Also, access to the bathroom is via the second bedroom (with the single beds).
Hi, we are Therese and Travis! We live on the ground floor with our two kids Ollie (7) and Alice (5). At the moment we grow vegetables and berries for our own use, as well as keep bees and sell honey. There are cows and heirloom chickens on the farm as well. Our long term vision is to grow vegetables to sell and to convert the paddocks into flowering meadows!
We love meeting people from all over the world and are happy to help whenever we can. We are an outdoor family and can share a few local gems with you.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Our farm is located in Lilla Edet - a small municipality in the countryside full of nature reserves, lakes and hiking trails - great for outdoor activities, including some of the best salmon fishing in the country!
The village centre has a small super market where you can get the essentials, but the nearest town - Trollhättan (20kms north) has everything you need. The bus stops just 400 metres from our house, and there's a train station in the outskirts of the village. The train to Gothenburg - Sweden's second largest city, takes less than half an hour. Furthermore we are only a 20 minute drive from the coast.
