It is a perfect base for hiking, skiing or relaxing at the aquapark. •• AIRPORT •• The nearest airport is Poprad-Tatry Airport, only about 7 km from the apartment. You can easily get there from the airport by taxi (approx. 10–15 minutes) or by bus, which connects the airport with Poprad. •• PUBLIC TRANSPORT •• BUSES: From the main bus station in Poprad there are regular public transport or regional connections directly to Matejovec (line approx. 5–10 minutes). TRAIN: Poprad-Tatry railway station is approximately 2 km away - from there you can continue by public transport, taxi or a short walk. TAXI / private transport For a comfortable arrival, we recommend local taxi services or booking a transfer through the airport or railway station. The journey from the center of Poprad takes approx. 5 minutes by car, from the Tatras (Štrbské Pleso, Tatranská Lomnica) approx. 20–25 minutes. We look forward to welcoming you and hope you’ll enjoy your stay with us — and maybe come back again soon! 🌿 ••🏺 THE SECRET OF THE PRINCE OF MATEJOVCE 🏺•• Just a few meters from our apartment, in Matejovce, in an inconspicuous location on the outskirts of the city, a discovery was made a few years ago that literally amazed archaeologists from all over the world. During normal construction work, the tomb of a Germanic prince from the 4th-5th century was accidentally discovered here, preserved with extraordinary dignity and richness of detail. Gold ornaments, bronze vessels, silver jewelry - the objects found in the tomb reveal that this man belonged to the elite of his time. Today, the tomb is rightly considered one of the most important archaeological finds in Central Europe. You can see the original artifacts in the Podtatransky Museum in Poprad, just a few minutes from the apartment. When visiting the exhibition, you can literally travel back 1,600 years and touch the mystery of the man who once ruled under the Tatras. Some say that Matejovce has its own soul - and when you walk around the Poprad River in the evening, you may also feel that history is still breathing here.
