Ariapita Avenue (often called “The Avenue”) is a very well-known street in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, particularly in the Woodbrook neighborhood. Here's why it’s important, and some of the issues: 1. Ariapita Avenue is one of Port of Spain’s major nightlife and socializing strips. It’s lined with bars, restaurants, food courts, and places to hang out. 2. It has a strong food culture — from local street food to more upscale dining. 3. Some specific spots on or around Ariapita Avenue include the Avenue Pub House. 4. There’s also a Ma Pau (Mapau) members’ club on the corner of Fitt Street & Ariapita Avenue. 5. There’s been an increase in police patrols and “wrecking” (i.e., towing) to address crime and illegal parking.
