This peaceful, charming guest suite is two connected bedrooms. One room has a queen sized memory foam bed, two chairs, a smart TV, a closet, a desk, and an ensuite bathroom. The other has a twin memory foam bed, a well-stocked kitchenette (not full kitchen), and a dining table. There is a private patio with a fire pit and fountain. The building is located in Sunnybrae Community Forest, and is surrounded by towering redwoods. The driveway is steep (see photos of exterior of house), and it has stairs that do not have a handrail, so those with mobility issues might find this challenging.
I used to work in fine dining before I became a psychotherapist. While I'm glad for the career change, I really missed being in hospitality, so hosting allows me to indulge that part of myself. I am passionate about nature, hiking, scuba diving, international/domestic travel, food, wine, and cats. I am especially passionate about Northern Humboldt, and I really love sharing all of my favorites with guests to help them find hidden gems.
Located directly in between Humboldt National Park and Humboldt State Park, home of the tallest old growth redwoods on the planet, Arcata is an adorably friendly little town. It is the perfect launching point for every kind of adventure Northern California has to offer. From the house, walk 5 minutes to amazing hike/bike trails, drive 5 minutes to downtown Arcata or Cal Poly Humboldt, 10 minutes to Arcata Marsh and Humboldt Bay, or 15 minutes to a variety of pristine beaches. Visit Trinidad and further north to the most extensive lagoon system in the United States. Hike through trees up to 3000 years old in either of the major redwood parks 40 minutes south and north. Or head east into the mountains to the 6 rivers area for outrageous scenery and river sports. Humboldt is all about NATURE: Hike, bike, surf, raft, kayak, paddle board. Finish your active day with excellent restaurants, bars, and entertainment in downtown Arcata or Eureka.
