We know the area: 10 minutes to historic and quaint gold mining town of Mariposa, 15 minutes to Wild and Scenic Merced River, and 45 minutes to Yosemite’s Arch Rock park entrance. We started hosting travelers at this cabin in 2015. We live in the neighborhood near the cabin. -Advanced reservation may be required to enter Yosemite National Park on specific dates in February and summer. We are both native San Franciscans who love the outdoors. We were National Park Service park rangers and lived in amazing places such as Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Rocky Mountains, and Yosemite. Our passion is to enjoy the wild places around the world and marvel at their uniqueness, beauty and intricate balance, as well as meet people from all walks of life.
The cabin is in the Sierra Foothills near Yosemite in Mariposa County. The surrounding neighborhood is rolling hills of oak, pine, and manzanita with an occasional vineyard. Most of the neighboring properties are private residences on several acres. The historic town of Mariposa is 10 minutes away with many good restaurants, bars, gift shops, a grocery store, historic museums, and art galleries. Check out the Mariposa Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Bureau for more fun things to do in the area. During the hot summer, the Wild and Scenic Merced River is 15 minutes east on Hwy 140 at Briceburg with several deep swimming holes with water flowing from Yosemite Valley.
