We’ve had a range of careers that took us around the U.S. and overseas before we took the plunge to run our own B&B. We both love the outdoors, travel, food, reading, hiking, independent bookstores, and the arts. Charles loves vernacular architecture, gardening, and handmade tools & craft. Jill is a writer, loves hosting literary events and is the founder of Wandering Aengus Press.

Kangaroo House Bed & Breakfast is a lovely historic landmark, built in 1907 as a large Craftsman Bungalow hotel, with local fir and cedar lumber and field stone for the architectural features. Having been a B&B for 42 years, Kangaroo House is the longest continuously running B&B in the San Juans. We prepare new takes on classic dishes alongside some delicious new ones you may not have seen before. We'll gladly omit any ingredients you don't eat, but we don't take requests about what we're going to make each morning.

Eastsound is a wonderful community. Our little neighborhood leading up to the boat launch on North Beach (a great place for sunsets) is mostly residential, but also has Brandt's Landing Marina, whale watching/kayaking launches, the Sucia Island ferry (really a boat), and the Port of Orcas all within walking distance of our place. So, whether you drive, boat or take a hopper flight to Orcas Island, it's just a short walk to our place.
