In 1916 construction began and the building was completed in 1917 as a three-room schoolhouse. Located on a hill even before Eagle Mountain Lake was built. The children of this area walked, rode their horses, or came by Model T to this schoolhouse. It served the small community first as a school and then as a town hall. Yes, weddings were held here! In 1942 the school closed. Over the years, several families enjoyed making it a home. Today, we share the beautifully updated schoolhouse with its 5 acres offering solitude and the occasional view of wildlife. We serve a delicious breakfast in the Suites or on patios weather permitting. Our Suites have microwaves, Kureigs, small refrigerators, and complimentary water and sodas. You'll also find a few complimentary snacks too. Whenever you are making a reservation with us please add your full address including your zip code.
When the previous owners (We love them!) lived here they did a wonderful job researching the history, remodeling- and restoring. My name is Zan. I can share the school's history and cook a homemade breakfast for you. I also was a ventriloquist so, I can answer questions on how that's done. lol. A short tour is available if requested beforehand. There is one pet, an outside cat, Miss Spooks she may greet you at first, but she'll be on her way. She is not allowed in the suites though she tries. Please call if you have any questions.
Here you get the best of both worlds. City and country. Being just 30-40 minutes from downtown Ft. Worth with great dining and shopping. 45 minutes from Texas Motor Speedway. One can be out and about and come back to the peaceful, old schoolhouse on a hill overlooking the lake. West Bay Marina is within walking distance. Drive 15 minutes to GoGo Gumbo. A destination-type restaurant was written up in Southern Living magazine. Also, there are fishing, boating, cute clothing shops, and cafes! We are a gated property with covered space for parking.
