Strand (Afrikaans for 'beach') is a seaside resort situated on the eastern edge of False Bay and at the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. Its geographical position is between Somerset West and Gordon's Bay, and is about 50 km southeast of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Strand's main attraction is the beach; 5 km of white sandy beach off False Bay. Heidelberg is just east to the Overberg region, and is the start of the Garden Route. The ideal location for holiday makers to enjoy water sports, golf, hiking trails, horse riding, fine dining and art galleries. A mere 15 minute drive from Stellenbosch Wine Routes, 60 minute drive to Hermanus, which is famous for whale watching and 20 minute drive to Cape Town International Airport.
