A ten minute stroll to the town centre. The Garden View Suite provides you with private, luxury accommodation and your own entrance to the property.
Marilyn and I enjoy eating out and drinking lots of the lovely local wine! I have drawn up quite a comprehensive restaurant guide, based on personal experiences of local eateries. I would be more than happy to forward this to people who are interested. I am also a qualified wine tourist guide so I would be very happy to advise people on the wine and wine estates in the area.
Marilyn is a keen horse rider and I am a keen tennis player, so we can provide information in these areas as well.
Franschhoek is regarded as the "restaurant capital" of South Africa. I have drawn up quite a comprehensive restaurant guide, based on personal experiences of local eateries. I would be more than happy to forward this to people who are interested..
There are more than 50 wineries in the area and once again I would be very happy to provide pointers. I would recommend that people google "The Franschhoek Wine Tram" website. There are five separate routes which provide a fun and safe way to experience a number of our beautiful wine estates.
The village market in the town centre operates every Saturday morning is worth a visit, as is the Huguenot Monument and the very impressive motor museum which is on the outskirts of the town.
Annual festivals include the Bastille weekend, The MCC (sparkling wine) festival, The Uncorked Wine Festival, The Summer Wine Festival and the highly acclaimed Literary Festival.
Franschhoek is regarded as a safe place to visit and you are able to walk around fairly freely. There is petty crime on occasion and one must be aware of this and ask the locals for advice when necessary.
