Picnic Rock is a family run business that has been around since the first visitors started coming to Keurboomstrand. The Read family used to also be proud owners of the Singing Kettle tearoom and restaurant, which has since been sold and now become the very popular and well-known Enrico's Restaurant. Over the years the property has shifted from being camping sites and wooden chalets on stilts overlooking the beach front, to the four little white "fisherman's cottages" on the beach front with several ocean view camping sites, to where we are now... The chalet collection has evolved and reduced, and we now host three self-catering units, all of which are directly on the beach front with direct access. Two of our units have two bedrooms with two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. The third unit is situated just above these, offering one bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

Picnic Rock is unique firstly for its history, as it was previously known as Arch Rock Seaside Accommodation, an establishment that has been family run for many years. Many families that still visit us regularly today, have been coming since they were children, or indeed because their parents were visitors from childhood. There is a special quality about the memories created in this little cradle of nature. The other most wonderful feature of Picnic Rock is that is it unique. It is in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled locations along the coast, surrounded by trees and nature, with easy access to long stretches of pristine beaches. Coming to Picnic Rock means escaping from the hustle and bustle of the busy world and being able to relax and enjoy the peaceful quite of nature and all its splendours. It is something that we endeavour to maintain - the basic, natural enjoyment of a holiday break.

Picnic Rock is situated just outside of Plettenberg Bay, about 13km away from the town itself. The area of Keurboomstrand is still very rural, and that is what our guests and visitors love the most about it. It is a small village primarily hosting holiday homes and one restaurant. The nearest shop is a little farm stall called Thyme & Again, just off the N2 before you turn off to reach Keurboomstrand. For everything else, one would need to make the 10 min journey into Plettenberg Bay. But Plettenberg Bay itself hosts an array of sights, tastes, and delights with game parks, animal sanctuaries, bird parks, nature reserves, hiking and cycling trails and much, much more. There are also several award-winning restaurants in the town, and we are only a stone's throw away from Knysna and George.
