Campbell Stays is currently run by the host, Bea, who resides at Campbell Stays, with pets Ohana and Georgia (a Puglin and a Pug). However, during overnight stays, the host endeavors to allow guests as much privacy as possible and does not use the majority of guest amenities to ensure the comfort of the guests. The host is, however, always available to assist guests with any issues they may encounter, be it medical emergencies, guest-related queries, starting the water pump, or starting a braai (barbeque). NB: Guests need to note that the property is listed as the rental of rooms in a house. There are, therefore common areas shared with other guests, and during long stays, with family members. If you are unsure if your stay will be affected by this, please do ask. As host, I do stay out of the way of guests to afford them the opportunity of a safe and carefree stay. Campbell-Simes Stays is centrally located on the N5 between Bethlehem and Harrismith. It is 16 km from Golden Gate and 65 km from Clarens. This house was built in 1904 by our family and is being renovated to be added to a historical site list. It still has the original cast iron bath. The garden has magnificent old trees and rose bushes. However, the Cottage Core Decor ensures a comfortable homely stay for Tourists or backpackers. Unfortunately, due to the property currently going through the process of being listed as historic, all renovations (that is changes to the structure) have to be approved before implementation. The town is a typical small town. Kestell sometimes suffers from a water shortage, however we do have a water tank (joJo) and pump. Do not expect large shopping centers in town, but there is a butcher, liquor store, and cafe within walking distance. The Property will also cater for meals if booked in advance. The town is also known for its beautiful Church that was built in 1905. Facilities are limited in our small town. There are no grocers, no pharmacy, clinics, or doctors.

Bea Campbell-Cloete is of Scottish-Irish descent but has grown up in the Free State. She has run a five-star game lodge in Botswana and has run various B&Bs. Due to the public profile of her employment, the host is required to travel and at times co-hosts might take over to ensure the comfort of the guests. Bea is also a qualified Reiki Master, a published poet, and a Certified Pastoral Counsellor.

Kestell is a small farming town that is situated off the N5 Highway and is 45km from Bethlehem and Harrrismith. It is approximately 16km from the Golden Gate National Park with its beautiful mountain and hiking trails and about 60 km from Clarens. There is a Lion Sanctuary in Town and a horse sanctuary about 20km outside of town. The town is close to all major amenities. Kestell is also ideally situated to visit the Tugela Falls, Sterkfontein Dam, and other beautiful areas. We also do have access to a guide that can be arranged upon request. The property is situated in the center of town.
