Our De Mond Cottage is farm-styled cottage with rustic, country feel. The cottage is situated in farmlands so allows one the opportunity to relax and unwind immediately. There is no electricity - it is off the grid, so a donkey (fire) needs to be lit on arrival to warm the water and paraffin lamps and candles add to a warm and wonderful ambience in the evenings. The cottage offers a small scullery and bigger kitchen and dining area leading onto the lounge and outdoor entertainment areas. Enjoy the magical sunsets and views across the fields ... the peace and tranquility is only interrupted by the birdlife.
Werner, our farm manager, is your point of contact should you need anything extra, from blankets to extra wood for the donkey, please feel free to contact him.
The main attraction is De Mond Nature Reserve which boasts spectacular birdlife, fishing (fresh and saltwater) is a nature lovers paradise. There are a number of walks around and through the reserve as well as beach walks (a beautiful and uninterrupted coastline stretching from De Mond to Arniston). The closest town is 20km away (Bredasdorp) where supplies can be purchased. In an around the area are some well renown Overberg wine farms boasting some world-class wines & estates, the quaint and village of Arniston with its historic fishing village, tea rooms, authentic malay restaurants and the lovely family hotel in Arniston with a spa and restaurant.
