Die Tuishuise is an elegant, historic street of restored Victorian era Karoo guest houses. More than 30 Tuishuise line Market Street up to the Victoria Manor, a grand old colonial hotel, established in 1848, that welcomes you with hearty country fare and beautiful décor from the days of Cecil John Rhodes. The late Sandra Antrobus, previous owner and restorer of Die Tuishuise, has decorated each house in its own distinctive theme of period prints and antique furniture, to reflect an atmosphere of understated elegance, reminiscent of the lifestyles of the English and Dutch Settlers at the turn of the century. Guests are afforded the rare opportunity to escape the present and enjoy the historically rich surrounding, as well as the personalised service and amenities required by today's discerning traveller. Cradock is a place of literary legends, war heroes and anti-Apartheid struggle icons. For nature lovers, Die Tuishuise is a great base from which to explore the unique landscapes and animals of the Mountain Zebra National Park. The river town of Cradock is also a great place for absailing and many water related adventures.

Nestled in the heart of the Great Karoo, this lovingly restored hotel and its collection of guest cottages invite you to experience authentic living, celebrate local food heritage, and explore a town once home to legends and heroes. Whether you prefer the elegance of Victoria Manor’s historic en-suite rooms or the comfort of self-catering cottages adorned with period antiques, every stay promises gracious hospitality and a true taste of country town living. Being a historical hotel there is no lift to our rooms which are up one set (25 to be exact) stairs. Although some of our cottages are pet friendly, no pets are allowed in the main hotel. Please inform us of your furry ones when making a booking. Not all our accomodation are listed on the site. Due to ongoing upgrade, the photo s don’t always actively reflect the room/s.
