The beautiful Atlantic ocean, lovely sunsets and small wild buck feeding in the early morning or late afternoon adds to this peaceful environment, Guests can relax with their favourite sundowner experiencing the beauty of West Coast at Grootvlei Guest Farm. The Cape Dwarf Chameleon is Native to the Western Cape and West Coast and can be seen at night when feeding from the vegetation at Oppiduin (On the Dunes). Depending on Mother Nature the area is covered in a beautiful display of wild flowers during July to October. Whales and Dolphins are have also been spotted frolicking in the waves of the Atlantic ocean. Birdwatchers will be delighted at the variety of bird on Grootvlei Guest Farm. The farm is a big property, and there are different types of accommodation; so please select carefully when you look at the room types. There are 7 rooms in the Main Guest House, they are more formal. There is a house to rent and a flatlet to rent next to the Guest house. Then there is also budget accommodation that has communal bathrooms and communal kitchenette. This is called the eco-village, and these budget-rooms offers are a room with only a bed only (see images). We call them Voelnessises or bird nest rooms. Then there are 4 rooms with are on the dunes/ at the beach. These rooms are more rustic but an incredible experience as you are staying on the beach surrounded by nature. Grootvlei is 900 m from Muisbosskerm open air restaurant and is 5 km from Lamberts Bay. The Sandveld Museum has the salvage of the HMS Sybille which struck a reef at Steenbokfontein during the 1901 Anglo Boer War, the truehistory of ove and which is unique to Lamber'ts Bay. Experiencing the beautiful Westcoast sunset over the Atlantic ocean adds to the beauty of Grootvlei and surroundings. Bird Island is the breeding site for the Cape Gannet, Cormorants Harlaub's gulls and kelp gulls, also cape seals. Rooibos Factory in Clanwilliam offers their unique variety of Rooibos products.
