The Foley family run a unique farming operation at the Urban Farm. They grow lettuce and herbs hydroponically and deliver lettuce to restaurants throughout Pietermaritzburg and beyond. They also grows tilapia fish and have set up an aquaponics system.
All our fresh farm ingredients are used in our breakfast menu – you can expect golden-yoked free-range eggs for breakfast and fresh chives in your omelettes. This is farm-to-fork at its best with absolutely no food miles!
Pietermaritzburg is second-largest city in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It was founded in 1838, and as such, has a rich and interesting history. An hour’s drive from Durban and two hours’ drive from the Drakensburg means that this city is an ideal base from which to explore the wider KwaZulu-Natal region.
Hamilton Urban Farm and Guest House is located in the tree-lined suburb of Hayfields in Pietermaritzburg. Set just outside the Pietermaritzburg centre, there are views of the city from the balcony.
