Suzette spoils all the guest with a freshly baked loaf of bread for each table daily at Breakfast, while we also make our own home made Jam from our fruit trees. All of this is followed by a Full English Breakfast, just before you leave to go and enjoy the day with our Guide at Addo Elephant National Park, which is situated a mere 2 minutes away from us. The establishment was built in 2005, but sold in 2024 to another wonderful owner, who continues to entrust Suzette to manage the complete business. A high standard is set with staff and management and all guests will always feel part of our business.

Happy Jackal Welcomes You Visit the Addo Elephant Park in our open game-viewing Land rover with our qualified game-ranger. Big Five game-viewing on our doorstep makes the Happy Jackal the perfect choice of luxurious accommodation. This river lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River and only 2 minutes drive from the Addo Elephant National Park. Extensive lawns stretch down to the Happy Jackal jetty where across the river unspoilt, natural bush is the habitat of Kudu, bushbuck, water mongoose and Cape Clawless Otters. Port Elizabeth and its airport are only half an hour away. We offer a choice of bed and breakfast rooms in the Lodge or self-catering units. Guests may choose from ground floor rooms opening onto private patios and the riverbank or impressively large, thatched upstairs rooms, each with its own thatched deck. Please note that no children are allowed inside the lodge for accommodation, but welcome to book any f our own self-catering units. Breakfasts cater to all tastes and include both a full English and Health breakfast. Home-made jams and freshly baked bread daily. Self-catering unit guests may order breakfast in advance at an additional cost. Dinner is strictly by booking only, 72 hours in advance. So check that you make the booking, when you do your booking reservation. Dietary requirements must be advised and is charged at an additional fee. Game drives are to be paid in CASH only! Unfortunately Addo Park is not always online with credit card payments, due to signal, so to allow us into the park, we only accept cash to pay over. Laundry is only wash and dry at an additional fee. You need to notify Management the night before, so it can be done the next day. Please note here are no irons for your usage, as we a bed and breakfast Happy Jackal is not just another accommodation establishment. Addo Elephant National Park (Southern Gate- Matyolweni) is a mere 2 minutes away from Happy Jackal. The Sundays river flows right in front of our Guest House all the way down to the estuary and sand dunes. A River Boat Cruise will take you there, or take a short drive in your car.. Abundant and varieted Bird Life.
