Marloth Park is a wildlife sanctuary and holiday town situated on the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park. (Approximately 390 kilometers from Pretoria). Marloth has its own wildlife and with the exception of elephant the other 4 of the big 5 are within Marloth Park. The Crocodile river forms the boundary between Marloth Park and the Kruger National Park and elephants are very often spotted playing in the river or drinking along the water's edge. They sometimes even cross the river and come close to Marloth Park.
Buffalo, rhino and lion are confined to Marloth's game reserve "Lionspruit" which is within Marloth Park.
Other game such as kudu, zebra, giraffe, blue wildebeest, nyala, impala, warthog and other animals aren't restricted by fences and roam freely between the units that are built on 1500 hectares. Although they are used to the presence of humans they are still wild and care is to be exercised around them.
During the day you can take a walk along the river or a mountain bike ride on the many dirt roads and Marloth Park is a birder's paradise.
Situated between Malelane and Komatiepoort there are two entrance gates which can be used to the Kruger National Park. Crocodile bridge gate is closest at 14km and Malelane gate is 35km away.
Lion sightings are also reported from time to time along the river and they can also be heard roaring at night.
A variety of restaurants cater for the hungry while two shops supply self-catering guests and residents.
In addition to this Marloth Park also offers a hardware store, curio shop, liquor store and a fuel station.
Only the main road between the 2 gates is tarred, all other roads are dirt roads and some need a bakkie or 4 x 4 to be traversed. Fortunately, Kruger Amani is on a good dirt road and a normal car can use it quite easily.
