Our cottage is situated in a sunny, indigenous garden. The natural environment attracts many birds and insects - in particular the beautiful, iridescent green Malachite Sunbird - hence the name of our cottage. There is a small outdoor patio area overlooking the garden and the swimming pool for you to relax and enjoy
your surroundings. There is a gas barbeque where you can prepare a traditional South Africa "braai". The cottage has a small living area with fully equipped kitchen. The decor has an ethnic feel with bright "sheshwe" African prints and artwork. The bedroom is separate with an en suite shower room. There is a comfortable Queen size bed with quality white bed linen and spare blankets for the chilly nights. We supply a hair dryer, soap dispenser, and other small essentials such as tissues, cotton bud, cotton wipes. Even though we would like you to take a break from the the world we do have free wifi and a full DSTV (local cable TV package) for you to keep up to date and in touch. We offer a laundry service once per week (if you are on a long stay) for bedding and towels, personal laundry may be taken to the local laundry service.
I grew up in a family that thrived in the outdoors and our parents were either golfing, playing tennis, or embarking on long adventurous journeys to remote places in Southern Africa. We loved driving along country roads less traveled. I have also continued in the family tradition and I am happiest enjoying the natural beauty of where we live either hiking in the surrounding mountains, walking along the beach or running an interesting half marathon race in one of the more far flung villages in the Western Cape. I am also interested in the local history and have qualified as a cultural guide for the City of Cape Town. I love meeting and engaging with new people and am fascinated in the stories people have to tell. I am socially conscious and contribute some of my time to various charities within the community, and I am also chairperson of one of the environmental Friends groupings in the southern peninsula area. I believe it is important for local communities to become actively involved in the protection of our natural world. In my downtime I like to read novels, or watch a good series on TV!
