Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Penguin's Nest is 200m from the beach and 500m from the Penguin colony at Stony Point nature reserve. The private bedroom has its own separate entrance and deck. The room has an ocean view with an ensuite bathroom. The room is fitted with linen, towels and free toiletries. We are only a short walk (300m) from the ocean at Draadbaai. We do not recommend swimming at Draadbaai but you can swim at Silver Sands Beach(1.1km) or Betty's Bay Main Beach(1.7km) We are also 500m from the Stony Point Nature Reserve which is home to a unique colony of South African Penguins and their chicks (listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The penguin colony at Stony Point is one of only a few mainland breeding colonies in South Africa. It is estimated to be around 3500 strong, making it one of the largest colonies of African penguins in the world. Stony Point offers the public the chance to see these wonderful flightless birds up close. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk through the colony, which allows visitors to observe the penguins go about their daily activities in their natural habitat, without disturbing or disrupting them. The boardwalk, that winds its way through the reserve, offers a great vantage point for viewing the penguins and along the way, visitors can also observe other bird species that call the reserve home, including cormorants, gulls, and oystercatchers. Betty’s Bay is a small and quaint seaside village that lies in the Kogelberg Biosphere, which includes the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, considered by many to be the most beautiful of Cape Nature’s protected area. Kogelberg Nature Reserve earns the reputation largely since it occupies an area with minimal human interference. Its exceptional diversity and quality of fynbos means it is considered the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom. The reserve presents the finest example of mountain fynbos in the Western Cape. Small buck is a common sight around Betty’s Bay, as are mongoose, meerkat, hyrax, porcupines and various birds. Caracals (Rooikat) have occasionally been spotted and there are even leopards on the mountain slopes.
