Prince Alfred Hamlet. Doesn’t it just sound magical? This small town in the picturesque Warm Bokkeveld was founded by Johannes Cornelis Goosen, a farmer who moved to the area from the Klein Drakensteyn in the late 19th century. Our beautiful guesthouse is situated on the working farm, Rooikraal, a mere five minutes out of town. The house is nestled between pear orchards, with beautiful views of the wonderful Witzenberg mountains from the front and back stoep - the perfect place to sip on a cup of morning brew after a good night’s rest. The house and yard is fenced in for privacy, with a huge 16-hectare farm fam only 500m away for your enjoyment. It is perfect for water skiing, rowing, fishing and all kinds of outdoor activities. The farmhouse has Oregon wood ceilings, floors and doors that has been restored to its original pristine nature. Three spacious en-suite bedrooms makes this guesthouse perfect for a farm breakaway for the whole family.

Peet du Plessis is the third generation farmer on the property. Rooikraal is a working mixed farm. The Du Plessis family farms with cattle, apples, pears, prunes, plums and grain.⁠

The farm is just outside the small town of Prince Alfred's Hamlet.
