Shané loves old things and daydreaming. Renier loves animals and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. We are the custodians of San Gabriel Homestead and we love sharing our little piece of paradise with the world.

Nestled in the foothills of the Helderberg mountains lies San Gabriel Homestead, a Cape Dutch Manor House and 7 unique historic cottages dating back to 1756. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of old cape farm living, while being a short drive away from the beauty and adventure that the Cape Winelands and great Cape Town has to offer. The sound of water from the mountain stream below and birds chirping in the trees will be the perfect setting to sit and relax with a glass of wine on your patio overlooking the garden and watch the lowering sun paint the mountains a deep pink. With capacity to accommodate up to 26 people in each of our uniquely curated cottages and historic Manor House, San Gabriel is perfect for couples, families and intimate gathering with family and friends. San Gabriel is also home to Marlene van der Westhuizen’s Winelands Food Studio that is open by appointment for intimate celebrations.

San Gabriel Homestead is the ideal place to stay when you visit the Western Cape. It is ideally situated between the best restaurants and wine farms the Cape Winelands has to offer. Visit the historic towns of Stellenbosch and Franschoek and admire the beautiful mountains and valley's in the area. We are only 10km from Strand Beach and 50km from Cape Town Waterfront and within easy reach of Cape Town International Airport. Table Mountain, Robbin Island, Cape Point and Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens can be visited during a day trip to the city bowl. A drive to Hermanus for whale watching will take you 1 hour and all along the way you can stop for wine tastings at several Wine Estates and enjoy delicious food. Are you a 4x4 enthusiast or mountain biker ? You can enjoy these outdoor activities on our neighbouring farm.
