Shelanti Game Reserve (Est. 1996) lies in the Waterberg region of the Limpopo province, just north of the small town Marken. Shelanti boasts with the rich habitat diversity unique to this region, which in turn allows us to accommodate a high diversity of birdlife and wildlife, perfect for any wildlife enthusiast. On our 20 000ha open farm area one has the opportunity to view not only general plains game, but also favorites such as Cheetah, Leopard, Hyena, Buffalo and the and the elusive Elephants. On the open farm we also run an active vulture restaurant where frequent visitors include; the White-backed vulture, the Cape Griffon vulture and the Lappetfaced vulture. Sightings of the Rüppell’s vulture have also been recorded.

The lodge offers the option of both self-catered and fully-catered (dinner, bed and breakfast) accommodation where a weary traveler can put their feet up and relax, watch the clouds pass or read a book quietly. From the Lodge a number of activities can be arranged for those who are more adventurous. Shelanti is a true ecological paradise for those who can appreciate and respect the African bush at its very best.

Shelanti can be found in the heart of the bushveld where summers are green and the bush is bursting with young life while the winters offer a stark contrast with dry bush and clear skies. The 20 000ha Reserve lies between the rural villages of Marken and Baltimore in the Limpopo Province and is not much further than a three hour drive from Johannesburg and less than two hours from Polokwane. Proud to be part of the malaria-free Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, Shelanti is privately owned and managed by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated people whose first qualification is their true love of the bush.
