A cool funicular that will take you to the a small dock on the lower part, where you will be able to jump in the lake and continue to admire the scenery. To that you can add really nice food at the restaurant that has enough variety to not taste the same food on a week long trip. But, the best thing about this place is it’s amazing staff, they are so welcoming and friendly, they will treat you like family. They gave us a lot of tips about where to go and how to get there, they always welcomed us back with a smile, a cold towel and a clean room.

Located on the shore of Lake Petén, with its bungalows hidden in the surrounding forest, it could not be more beautiful, relaxed and quiet. Add to that a really good restaurant with exceptional breakfast (everything is made to order, no buffet), and the most helpful and friendly staff you can imagine. The bed was super comfortable, which is really important to me.

I was greeted at reception by Jeaneth, who accounts for the first 10/10. The hostel restaurant serves as a social hub for the Flores fine folks which keeps the place lively and interesting. They have a full bar, a menu with uninspired but acceptable fares and great coffee. The hostel is split from the restaurant by a wooden palisade and is much quieter. It does have a pool table and a jacuzzi. My dorm was great and had a fine shower. The travel agency in the hostel can send you across Guatemala and beyond within minutes. It’s a 10 from me.
