A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. This was one of the finest ryokans I’ve stayed at in Japan. The outdoor onsen was beautifully designed, making for a perfect winter soak. The room was exceptionally spacious compared to others in the area, with a well-placed private bathroom that offered both convenience and privacy. Additionally, parking was hassle-free, making it a great choice for those traveling by car.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. The owner was super sweet and helpful (driving to the monkey park and the train station). The onsen were great, the private onsen was almost all the time available! A spacious room and the little town felt like a little fairytale (it was snowing when we were there).

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. Amazing friendly people who made you feel welcome from the moment you arrived.

Absolutely a gem!!! Food was one of the best in the entire trip to Japan. Some staff spoke English and went out of their way to make the experience memorable. The onsen is natural hot springs with nice sulfur smell. Loved every second of this place. Would happily return.

We had a great stay at Shoraiso for our honeymoon in December. Service is unparalleled and the staff are doing above and beyond to make us feel like home without being intrusive. We love the elephant decor of the room and the beautifully landscaped garden, and the private onsen is definitely the highlight of our trip. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just exceptional (very tasty with fresh local ingredient and creative presentation). The location is quite convenient - 45min train from Nagano to Yudanaka station and hotel is just a few min drive away (the hotel can arrange pick up). Monkey park is quite close (around 15min taxi away). Overall we couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

Directly connected to the slopes of Okushiga Kogen Ski Resort and within a 1-minute walk from the Lift 1, Hotel Grand Phenix Okushiga provides a convenient ski-in/ski-out access. The lounge is absolutely the highlight, here the Grand Phenix shares three things with you: great local draft beer, a gentle Okushiga snowing view, and a warm firepit. This lounge is so special that you can wait for your dinner table (because of the tight reservation in Christmas season) there while drinking your drinks by a bonfire, this even makes waiting a wonderful experience...

This is a family-run hotel with various offered services. Ski renting and lesson can be done at the hotel. Ken is truly an amazing teacher. Very patient and encouraging. We booked 3 lessons with him and very satisfied. As for food, we opted for half board option and find that the dinners, in every nights we stayed, are delicious and nutritional. Ski-in/ski-out is very convenient. The ski lift is right in front of the hotel. The Sun Valley area is also great for both beginner and intermediate skiers with green/red/black slopes in one area. On weekdays, there are almost no people there, which is nice if you want to practice or learn to ski. The bus stop to the city and other areas is only 100m away. The 24-h onsen is perfect after a tiring day of skiing. The family's hospitality is unmatched. I broke my glasses and Captain helped me fix them :) they literally have everything. Highly recommend!
