This was the best value for money stay I had this trip. Highly recommend opting for dinner to be included with your stay. The steamed vegetables and meat with rice and soup was a sumptuous, healthy yet delicious meal especially at the end of a day's big hike. The dorm beds were comfortable, and it was a really nice luxury to get a private onsen experience (especially the outdoor one). Though there was no convenience store around, the hostel has a very good range of snacks, instant noodles, buns at good prices so you don't have to worry about not having food around.

200 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO is a recently renovated property set in Tanabe and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. The best stay in Chikatsuyu! It was the first stay on our Kumano Kodo trail, and it was the very good choice. The host was really nice to us and other guests. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable for stay of 2 people. There is everything you need to have a good rest before the next day of hiking trail. The host cooked amazing dinner and breakfast for us - we tried really good Osaka-style okonomiyaki, Japanese curry and a lot of another things. Also he prepared good lunch boxes for the trail.

39 km from Kishi Station in Koyasan, 高野山 宿坊 光明院 -Koyasan Shukubo Komyoin- provides accommodation with access to a hot tub. It is situated 45 km from Matsushita Park and offers luggage storage space. Great location, just a few minutes’ walk from the start of the atmospheric path to Okunoin Temple. Food was excellent and the Buddhist monks who run the place take good care of you. The meditation sessions, and especially the fire ritual, are memorable. Fantastic value overall.

We appreciated the cleanliness and organization of the place. We really enjoyed the sauna and hot tub that felt brand new. It is also a convenient 10-minute walk to the beach! The host took some memorable pictures of us, which we also really appreciate. This is a special place ran by a genuine, down-to-earth host. Thank you G-Sun for creating a lovely Wakayama experience!

The stay was simply amazing. The warmth and kindness of the hosts made me feel so welcome — their beautiful smiles and the genuine care they showed made every moment special. We shared good laughs and wonderful conversations that made me feel like part of the family. The food that Akemi-san prepared was absolutely delicious and crafted with love — every meal was a delight. Thanks to them, I felt at home even though I was far away from home.

高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- on ajalooline tempel ja külalistele sobiv majutus. Hotell asub pühas Koya mäe piirkonnas. Great experience. Very friendly. Monks encouraged participation in morning ceremony and eve activities. Explained everything. Great room, dinner and breakfast.

Boasting a hot tub, Samsara Inn 今だけオープン特別価格 is set in Tanabe. During your time staying in this recently renovated bed and breakfast, dating back to 2025, you will have access to free WiFi. Very good location! Close to the station as well as multiple restaurants. The owner was also very kind and accommodating. I left something in the bathroom after checkout and one of their staff was so kind and came all the way to the station to look for me. Absolutely recommend this place!

Spacious, comfortable, washer and dryer ready, quiet at night but unfortunately it’s cloudy on our stay otherwise night sky will be excellent
