From the moment I made the booking, the team was in constant communication with me. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and the hospitality provided by Mr. Udaya and Mr. Gayan was exceptional. Their kindness made our experience truly memorable. The food was also outstanding. I would highly recommend this place to all my family and friends who plan to visit Sri Lanka in the future. Even after our stay, they stayed in touch to ensure we safely reached our next destination, which was a thoughtful touch. I have no hesitation in recommending this place—it’s a must-visit. The bedroom was incredibly relaxing, and the pool was perfect, especially given the hot weather in Anuradhapura. The property is spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail in its design is evident, making it an excellent choice for guests. They even took the time to ask what could be improved for future stays, showing their commitment to constant improvement. Mr. Udaya is a truly humble and gracious host.

He was also genuinely concerned for our safety throughout our stay: while Sri Lanka is a very safe country, his attentiveness was still much appreciated. The food cooked by his wife was amazing—made with quality ingredients, prepared beautifully, and full of bold, authentic flavor. Easily one of the top three meals we had in Sri Lanka. If you're planning a trip to Anuradhapura or Mihintale to explore the sacred Buddhist sites, and you're looking for something authentic and off the tourist trail, stay in Mihintale. It's rich with temples and spiritual atmosphere. Stay at Janaka’s place, ask him for advice, and you won’t be disappointed.

The food was delicious, local food with a great variety. What really stood out was the excellent customer service—the staff was attentive and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for great hospitality and excellent Sri Lankan food.

If you stay a week or more a kitchen can be used. Every day around 18.00 hours you can see elephants quite nearby at one of the thee lakes. 2 or 3 or 6. Very exiting. They come to drink water. However keep distance. We really loved our staying at Village Garden Inn

My room was excellent with a comfortable bed, very effective aircon and ceiling fan. Good bathroom with reliable hot shower. Everything very clean and secure. TV with Euronews English language channel. Good WiFi. Nice shady upstairs terrace to sit on. Rented a bicycle at the hotel - 1500R per day. A bit pricey because it wasn't a great bike but it helped a lot getting around the ancient city. Hotel in great quiet location just a few minutes walk from the railway station and not far from the ticket office of the Anuradhapura dagobas. Good cheap restaurant on Main Street a few hundred meters away called the Family Bakehouse (head south on Main Street and it's on the other side of the road). Serves very good curries and rice as well as baked goods

Mahesh and his team, very open , friendly and very helpful , these people make Bangalawa resort the place which will give you unforgettable stay , I travel a lot around Asia, but I never experienced such attitude of staff towards its guests, highly reccomend this place, definitely will come again when I come to Sri Lanka next time

I recommend this hotel for anyone who's heading Anuradhapura.
