We traveled with a grandson of 13 yrs. The room we originally got through Booking.com would not have had the separate beds we needed, nor any room for a rollaway. Communicating directly with the hotel made it possible to change our reservation to a "Family deluxe" room on the top floor (astounding views in all directions) & we would love to have that rom again on our next trip. Likewise, prepaying for breakfast let us to eat leisurely at a great buffet in the mornings. NOTE: Neither breakfast nor room were "American Standard"; this is a British hotel with mostly British guests and British sensibility and space.

Greenwich Park

East meets west at the Prime Meridian Line in historic Greenwich Park. Once a royal hunting ground, this leafy space is now a peaceful retreat for Londoners looking to stroll, cycle or sunbathe. Crowning the park from its hilltop perch, the Royal Observatory is quite a climb but the views alone are well worth the walk.

There is a Big ship in a bottle & a Children's playground & then you walk up a very steep hill to get to the Prime Meridian, we did not have time to go into the Observatory on this trip. Up on the hill you can see the city of Greenwich..

Take the Docklands Light Railway from the city centre.

Take the Docklands Light Railway from the city centre. You'll pass through Canary Wharf and Docklands and when you leave you'll see the Cutty Sark tea clipper that sailed from China to London many times. Then walk to the National Maritime Museum and through Greenwich Park where you can see the National Observatory and look out over a great panorama of London. Return to the other side of the Thames via the tunnel which is quite an experience, though not at all creepy! You can pick up your return train there. Not to be missed!
