If I could give a higher score than 10 I would! This place is in an unbelievable location, right on the edge of the national park. 3 days I was there I saw orangutans on the property and lots of other monkeys in the trees outside my balcony. Yes, it is a steep climb to get here but if you are doing a jungle trek you will need to walk up past the property to get to the national park anyway. If you arrange transport through them they will send someone to help with your bags. The food in the restaurant is amazing and very reasonably priced and there is lots of variety so you don’t even need to leave the property for meals! I got laundry done as well which was a bonus. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I did the 2D/1N jungle trek with Orangutan Bungalow and it was incredible! The guides were fabulous, the food was wonderful and we saw so much wildlife that it was almost overwhelming at times. Yes there are bugs and geckos around but you are in the jungle so it’s to be expected. If you want sterile accommodation with air conditioning then you will have to pay a lot more than you pay staying here. Don’t stay anywhere else!

We enjoyed it here so much, we extended our stay. It is very close to the nature, if you are lucky you can see Orang-Utans and other monkeys in the garden. The river is very close and you can hear it in the evening.

If you want to see orangutans in Bukit Lawang, stop looking, this is the place! The hotel is rustic and beautiful, it is next to the river and the views of the jungle from the bedroom window are incredible! From here we saw orangutans, gibbons, monkeys, langurs, butterflies and birds without having to move. It includes breakfast, and in the restaurant they serve the best curry in town! The staff always attend you with a smile and are willing to help you with whatever you need at all times, we leave with a full heart, thank you very much Pepen, Lina, Inaka, Dani, Rini, Safii, Kolik, Pindo, Ifan and of course Riko (we have a chess match pending, the definition) And if you want to do the tour and enter the national park to explore the wonders of the incredible jungle of Sumatra, well, I must say that here they have the most professional team of all! We spent 3 days and 2 nights in the jungle, with the best guides in Bukit Lawang: Rio and Jerry! They accompany you, teach you and take care of you, they care about protecting the environment and the surroundings, proud of their culture and with a smile all day, attentive to us living one of the best experiences of our entire trip through Southeast Asia. Thanks also to Jill for an amazing dining experience in the middle of the jungle, we never imagined we would eat so well! You have a great team Sean, thank you so much! Finally, thank you Brigitte for organizing everything and making our stay a unique and unforgettable experience! @nomadesylocos

Great cabins to stay. These cabins and the whole property look great. Don’t expect a huge 5-star hotel, but a cozy lodge with 4 cabins. Jay is a great host. He can also arrange transport from and to Medan (airport), and excursions to the jungle (e.g. 2 day jungle tour with sleeping in the jungle).

The lodge is a real gem on the jungle border. Everything was great, we liked our bungalow, especially the balcony which was a real door to wild nature, yes, with animals visitors included :) The guide from the hotel was highly professional. BTW, a fruit breakfast which the guide made for us during the trekking was soo cute.

Our experience was perfect from the communication before arrival, the welcome and information, our stay in the Travelodge itself and the jungle trekking organized by the Travelodge and with our guide Felix.

The lodges are beautifull and clean! The staff was so friendly and kind. They helped us with everything. We booked the jungle trekking tour at the Green Travelodge. It was amazing with our tourgide Dino. He told us a lot about the jungle and the Oerang- Oetangs. We booked the two days/ one night tour. At the campsite chef Adan cooked a delicious dinerpauze for us. Also the breakfast and lunch was so nice!

Awesome Guide and Family owned business. The lodges are really into the jungle and from my lodge i could see a young urang utan. Always watch your stuff because little meercats monkeys try to steal your food! Awesome experience over there, highly recommend.
