Situated within the grounds of the impressive Larnach Castle, surrounded by stunning gardens, you'll find Larnach Lodge and Stables stay. The room was lovely with a fabulous view and the bathroom was beautiful, with a heated floor. Breakfast was amazing and the castle and gardens a huge bonus to our stay.

When we arrived at Milford Sound Lodge, we were informed that the road would be closed the following day. Unfortunately we could not stay but the staff member, Gillian, immediately confirmed we could cancel without any penalties. The money was refunded promptly. We were disappointed we couldn’t stay as the lodges looked fab but with the amazing customer service we received, I have no doubt it would have been a wonderful stay.

Awesome ocean view. Meticulously clean. Loved the outdoor space on semi-private deck. Quiet and simple elegance with wonderful amenities.

The room was airy with two separate sliding doors giving access to the garden and decks with tables and chairs for dining outdoors. The room got the morning sun. The bathroom was spacious, and two glass walls of the shower opened right up. The breakfast was laid out for the guests from 8 to 9am, and included mostly breads and sugary things and dairy, which is typical for European breakfasts. I don't eat sugar or dairy, but managed to find enough: boiled eggs, fresh fruit and cold cuts.

What I liked: The room was very spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and the location was both ideal and original. Everything is very well looked after. The hosts were very helpful, and I really appreciated the easy access to the outside at night directly from the room to enjoy stargazing.
