The breakfast to start each day was delicious and with a beautiful view of the gardens. The hosipitality from the owner and all the staff could not have been better. Each evening we finished our days with beautiful drinks outside on the terrace and a delicious 3 course dinner after. Highly recommend staying here to get a nice break in the Scottish countryside.

It was clean, spacious and a beautiful property. The owners were very nice and welcoming and the area around the cabin was quiet and calm with only the sounds of nature and a few farm animals.

Great location, close to Town. Very generous welcome box with lots of goodies. Wish I'd taken my labradors as very dog friendly. Blessed with 4 days of glorious sunshine, could'nt have been better!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely village. The cottage was equipped with everything you could need for a week or more stay. Aly and Greg even left us breakfast, milk and other lovely snacks to get us started. The super king-sized beds were super comfy, and the cottage is of lovely decor. It had a variety of board games, netflix, and Prime TV. Our dog Murphy loved his walks and visits to the beach. There is a lovely community cafe in the village which does a variety of food and snacks. we even got a voucher from Aly and Greg to use, which was a lovely gesture. It has a little garden you can use if the weather is kind enough. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet break in a cosy cottage with lovely surroundings and super hosts.

A very comfortable warm cottage, ideal for an autumn break away. Field Cottage has everything you need and nothing that you don't. All rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Kitchen is very well equipped, allowing us to cook and eat in every evening. Castle Douglas has very good independent butchers, bakers and fish supplier on Fridays, and we believe in supporting the local economy. We especially enjoyed the quietness and absolute darkness in the evening outside. Katy and Alan are wonderful hosts and we appreciated the phone call the day before our arrival with details of how to pick up the keys. The welcome basket of bread, jam, milk and essentials was another really nice touch. Only sorry that we didn't meet them personally to let them know how much we enjoyed their hospitality. We know the area well, but took the opportunity to revisit old haunts out of season eg, Kirkcudbright, Kippford, Threave Estate and Dumfries. Cairn Holy and Caerlaverock Castle were new to us. Castle Douglas has a number of good coffee shops - our particular favourite being Street Lights for the best bacon rolls around !

The house was beautiful..decor and furnishings were first class. We'll equipped kitchen, comfy beds and fabulous hot tub. The family had a great time. The host Alan was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. A great stay!
