Located in a quiet, rural setting your motel room is a couple of minutes walk through the sand dunes to the majestic Haast Beach, a wonderful place to watch the sun setting over the Tasman Ocean. Meticulously clean and well equipped comfortable stay. The sunset on the beach (with private access) was stunning. Bed was very comfortable!

Akaroa Criterion Motel is situated opposite Children’s Bay. It is a 16-minute walk from Mt Vernon Akaroa. Location was perfect, and the view from the room was beautiful! Very comfortable room, got a great rest!

Every unit opens out onto either a patio area with outdoor seating or onto its own private balcony, to allow our guests to enjoy the panoramic views. This location has the most magnificent view! It's also within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants, bars, and a lot of activities. If you are traveling to Kaikoura, you MUST stay here. The owners were helpful and friendly, and very patient with our change in plans for check-in and check-out. The room was excellent; there was a bed in it's own room and another in the living room with a clear view of the beach! A full kitchen was in the room, and parking was convenient. Everything was very clean and comfortably cozy.

There is free on-site parking and free Wi-Fi. This is a very nice, clean and comfortable place to stay for Mount Cook tracks. You won’t regret to choose it. Can choose to cook inside the room’s kitchen if you bring food into the village, however, you can also choose to go to the bar and grill nearby.

All units feature either a kitchen or kitchenette and a private patio. Guests enjoy free WiFi. Great place to stay and matched exactly what our needs were. For us, it was a pleasure to stay in a place where we had firmer beds and didn't sag into them. Will definitely be back
