Managed to book a room including breakfast for AUD103 per night, for 2 nights. As a solo traveller, this was really worth the money as the hotel had an amazing onsen - two outdoor ones, an indoor one and a sauna. The breakfast was delicious, with them changing the menu if you stay the second day as well. It's traditional Japanese breakfast, with fish, sashimi, pickles, egg and dessert. They even heat up the clam miso soup using the portable fire at your table when you arrive. The room has air conditioning and a mini fridge.

Great breakfast. The location is incredible. They had a bike rental service, which allowed me to explore more of the area. The staff was very helpful and took the time to explain what I needed to know.

Traditional style ryokan with the nicest and most hospitable hosts. Every member of staff at chousenkaku was extremely helpful and kind, going out of their way to accommodate any requests. The location is excellent, a short 10 minute walk to the station and 5 minutes to a convenience store if needed. The food was spectacular - we were delighted with our choice to stay here. The building has a rich history too, for which information can be found in the lobby and by speaking to the staff. The private onsen is reasonably priced and well appointed with amenities, water etc.

The service is great. The lady in the food hall was very welcoming and friendly. Would visit again next time for a longer stay. The kaiseki meal was very tasty!

nice welcoming hotel, friendly service staff, clean and well equipped room. the complimentary 30mins private onsen booking is really worth a try, it’s so refreshing and relaxing. the ryokan dinner and breakfast are authentic and sumptuous. we really enjoyed ourself very much. highly recommended!!
