Kinosaki Onsen, Toyooka
Facing the central shopping street of the Kinosaki Onsen hot spring area, Morizuya offers authentic Japanese-style accommodation, hot spring baths and Japanese dining. Guests can wear colourful yukata robes at the property. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Staying at Morizuya was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. This cozy, family-run ryokan radiates warmth and hospitality. Manager Hachisuka and his family do everything they can to make you feel at home, and our stay truly exceeded expectations. The ryokan is charming and traditional. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable tatami room with beautiful décor and a view of a peaceful garden. The room included a private toilet and sink, while bathing is done in their private onsen (yes, private — no need to bathe with others if that makes you uncomfortable). Morizuya provides yukata for men and women, sandals, bags, towels, and an onsen pass for the town’s seven public baths. Women can also choose a kimono for going out around town and shopping, while men can (and should!) relax in their yukata for this same purpose. I especially want to highlight how Manager Hachisuka truly went above and beyond. He’s not only an excellent photographer — taking beautiful photos of my fiancée and me among the cherry blossoms and guiding us to great photo spots — but also incredibly kind and attentive. He personally helped us with our schedule and drove us to the station early in the morning to ensure we caught our train on time. That level of care is something we’ll never forget. If you’re unsure where to stay, I strongly recommend Morizuya. We left with beautiful and unforgettable memories of this warm and authentic experience in Kinosaki. A few quick tips about the bath: There are two onsen inside the inn. From 7 AM to 3 PM, they’re public (men/women separated). From 3 PM to 11 PM they become private — no reservation needed. If the door’s unlocked, it’s available. Go in, lock the door behind you and enjoy. You’re welcome to bathe with your family or partner. Be sure to shower and clean yourself before entering the bath. Walking around town in your yukata(or kimono) is part of the charm, so don’t be shy — it’s all part of the experience.

Free WiFi is provided throughout the property and private parking is available on site at a fee. The price is high, but you can expect a lot. The hotel rooms were great. You could choose if you prefer to sleep in big comfy western beds or prefered a Japanese futon instead (there were two rooms, so enough space to get the futons out). Maybe prepare a bit in advance, so that you know what´s going on, because the English introduction at reception is a bit shorter than the Japanese one, but the staff is always really helpful and can answer your questions. Breakfast and diner were both included and were fantastic. The sushi cook in the evening was so helpful and we tried 2-3 different sort of fish we never had before. And all the other dishes were great, too. Don´t forget to stop in time, so that there is still room for dessert ;o) The onsen on the roof is wonderful. You have an excellent night view and can see the beautiful harbour area. There is an onsen for women and one for men. First there is a big room where you undress and put your clothes in little baskets. Then there is a shower room followed by a pool, a whirlpool and the lovely onsen. And if you want to spend around 200 Yen extra, don´t forget to visit the room with the massage chairs. They are amazing.

Most of them went along the way to really help us out. One of the things I learned there through their staff, they said "doing the best is our standard". So imagine the kinds of services they will do for you.

Very cute town, friendly staff and can pre book private onsen. Traditional rooms are very clean!
1. They have a free car park space onsite. 2. They provide free shuttle bus that runs from 4 pm to 10pm to take guests/pick up to/from the town centre where all the public onsens and shops located. 3. The hotel has its own private onsen. After trying both the hotel's and one of the public onsens, I like the hotel's onsen better as it was not crowded as the public one. 4. The breakfast they served was good. We quite enjoyed it. 5. Friendly staff 6. Lovely Ryokan
Exceptional customer service at this family run Ryokan (thanks to our host, Van). The traditional rooms are gorgeous and the 3 private onsens are great. Whilst quite a bit not to my (somewhat unadventurous) taste, the traditional japanese food offered as part of the stay is exquisitely prepared and of very high quality.
The room was very well kept and clean. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. About 5 mins walk from the station. The ryokan allows one free use of the private onsen for 45 mins which you have to book during check-in.
Amazing Ryokan experience, we had the tajima beef kaiseki which was phenomenal. They accommodated for my husband's shellfish allergy as well. The room was clean and spacious and the service was excellent. There are nice private onsens too on the property. Our host Ayuri was extremely energetic and friendly, I had seen good reviews about her from other people here and she definitely lives upto it! Ayuri さん、 英語頑張ってくださいね! We wish you the best for everything ☺️
Ryokan Tsubakino location is almost central towards the Kinosaki Onsen district but yet still hidden in the quiet side of the whole town area, which made it a perfect location to stay. With its central point, walking to the town's famous onsens are manageable. Food provided by the hotel, Breakfast and Dinner Kaiseki Menu were superb and very fresh as well, thoroughly replenished our day.
Perfect location with enclosed balcony overlooking the river, within easy walking distance of all seven onsens. The attentive service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, including catering for us being vegetarian. The ryokan and room were stunning and the private onsen a treat!
Definitely the best stay in Japan so far! The host and his family made us felt welcomed as soon as we arrived creating a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed a really nice tea ceremony conducted by the host’s mum. Our room overlooked an amazing garden, was very clean and spacious. We rent Yukatas for free, and the host was always so enthusiastic to help us taking photos. The ryokan has two private onsen, both very beautiful, but it is very well located to use any of the public ones too. Last but not least, the host drove us back to the station.
Traditional inn (ryokan) with fabulous dinner and breakfast that were works of art, which also included tickets to all the local onsens. Very hospitable and helpful staff. Large room and decently sized bed. Lovely atmosphere with their own private hot springs bath that you can book.
