River Retreat Garaku offers luxurious modern rooms and suites for a peaceful getaway on Jinzu River. Food: The Japanese style breakfast and French dinner were both exquisite. Room: Fabulous view of the river from the room. Clean, cosy and you can find many little things that show the thought put into the design. For example, there is a small sliding window between the bedroom and the bathroom that you can open and close. Spa: The experience was so pampering and relaxing, I fell into deep sleep and woke up feeling incredibly refreshed.

Superbly clean, traditional theme, quiet and truly relaxing. The outdoor hot spring was the best part as no-one else was in there and it was snowing. Great room, will look to upgrade next time as we now know we will be staying again.

Facilities are good with comfortable onsen bath, the outdoor one is excellent. We love the free drinks provided during the day as well as after the onsen bath. The breakfast and the dinner breakfast are great! We love the yukata provided-there are more than six choices for women and I could wear a different one everyday. The room is spacious with friendly staff.
