This is the perfect place to stay if you want to get to know the real Sal and its people. The owners went above and beyond to make me feel not only welcome, but truly at home. The room was super comfy, and the food was always delicious (be sure to try one of Candida's secret recipes for dinner, if you get the chance). I was provided with all the help and advice I needed in order to explore the island, and Candida and Martin personally took me to places that only local people know about. If, like me, you prefer a quiet, remote beach over those crowed, touristy ones: there's a small one just a short bicycle ride away – although I usually opted for a walk through to beautiful steppe landscape to get there. If you prefer spending your days with the other tourists down in the south of the island: Santa Maria beach is only 20 minutes by bus – which may sound complicated at first, but is actually super fun and convenient (and it only costs 1 Euro). I could go on praising this place for two weeks (which is actually the amount of time I stayed), but I'll just stop here – not without saying: Thank you, Candida & Martin, for the wonderful time at kleine schweiz! We enjoyed very much our stay at Ellen Apartamentos. Our flight was delayed, we landed at 1:00 am and the host came to the location and gave us the key. The location was offering an extremely good value for money. We could communicate with the host in French and English.

Amazing hotel in Espargos! The municipal pool is just in front of the door so you can basically enjoy it as long as you want! Nice surroundings as well, a bakery and a supermaket 2 min away by walk & the city center quite close

Hugo and Monica are excellent hosts. They helped us with our late check-in and on the day of our departure. You can ask them for advice if needed. Murdeira is a nice village, offering a peaceful alternative away from the tourist areas of Santa Maria. The apartment is clean and cozy.

We reach Palmeira at around midnight (ferry from Santo Antão). After just 5 minutes walk from the harbour we reached La Vela. Milanca sent us great instructions for the self-check-in. The room has many useful details and fed all our needs. You can feel that not just the rooms were designed and equipped with great passion for the guests. The bus stop just outside was the right place to continue our journey to Santa Maria.
