Ari the agreeable on-site manager set out coffee, milk, butter, honey and fresh bread from nearby Stella's bakery every morning on the big table and invariably stayed to chat away in English. In fact it was Ari's hospitality, friendship and willingness to provide any small extras a guest might wish for that made our stay at Kalypso Studios much more than we expected.

This is not a 10-for-style place. The rooms are fairly basic. But this is Gavdos. An island which is largely closed…especially in May. But this place is the shining light. Lovely welcome. Maria is simply extraordinary…manager…waitress…builder…painter…taxi-driver…etc etc…whilst her lovely Mum looks after the kitchen.

We had an incredibly comfortable stay in Gavdos, made even better by the warm and friendly owners. Our visit was brief, just two nights with our young children (both under 5), but it left a lasting impression. Unfortunately, one of our daughters fell ill on the second night, which meant we couldn't fully enjoy everything the property had to offer. However, the owners were exceptionally helpful and supportive during this time, which made all the difference. We highly recommend this place for a relaxing and welcoming experience.

We loved everything. Giorgos is a fantastic host that took such good care of us. His place is brand-new and constantly improving. Don’t pay any attention to other comments claiming there is no electricity. There is in fact as well as air conditioning, hot water, and many other ammenities you wouldn’t even imagine coming to an island like Gavdos. And, of course, the dogs ❤️❤️❤️

Absolutely the **creme de la creme** of accommodation in Kastri, Gavdos! We only stayed for a couple of nights, but it was the perfect balm for our souls, especially when our little one came down with gastroenteritis, and I, in turn, caught the bug. This gem is nestled right on the edge of the forest, with a trail leading directly to Ampelos beach. Imagine stepping out your door and into a hiking adventure that ends with your toes in the sand. The view? Spectacular. You're treated to a panoramic vista of the sea and the island, soaking in those authentic Aegean vibes. If we ever return to Gavdos, this spot is non-negotiable. It's not just a place to stay; it's an experience wrapped in the tranquility of nature. **Highly recommended for anyone seeking a slice of paradise with a side of adventure!**

Very convenient situation only a short walk down the sand dunes to the beautiful beach. Bus at the gate. The lady in the reception was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable about the island.

Location is really nice, with breathtaking panoramic view over the sea and also very close to the path towards Trypiti cape and beach if you are interested in it (I highly recommend it). The staff is really nice, always positive and smiling, they came to pick us up from the port and also to take us on our way back there. The food is delicious, you can choose amongst the fresh fish that the family has caught, we tried several options and everything was really really good, simple recipes but full of taste. If you never been to Gavdos, it is definitely something else, “off the beaten path” - you feel remote, but more connected with nature, and if you’re lucky you might see a sky full of starts at night or one of the most beautiful sunrises in the morning. Thanks for having us, and we might come back in the future :D
