A ryokan which still upholds the tradition of Japanese hospitality. Even I booked only a single room, I was surprised to find my tatami room so spacious with balcony opens to a beautiful koi pond. I was treated with a famous local biscuit as welcome gift. The breakfast was the tastiest and most eye-pleasing meal I had in my entire 2 weeks-trip. The clam soup was so fresh. The host helped to call the previous hotel I stayed because I left my adaptor & mobile charger there. He was kind to also let me use his charger that night. The room was warm in chilly autumn night and I had a good sleep after soaking in hot bath. It was rainy when I arrived and left the ryokan but because of the hospitality I received, I wished I could have stayed there for another night or 2.

This hotel is a perfect hidden gem in a discreet village that gave us a real flavor of Japan, far from the crowds. The building is beautiful, a restauration of the original monks dormitory, and every detail is perfectly simple and charming. The apartment was very spacious and beautifully designed. Our host was fabolous and even opened his bar for us although no other guests were there at that time. He even organised us tickets for a train ride and made a reservation at an izakaya in the neighborhood. Thank you very much for having us!

The property has everything we needed. Very comfortable and quiet area with beautiful garden especially in snow. The parking is just outside the door of the apartment. The host was very kind to heat up the rooms as well as the kotatsu before we arrived. Love the kitchen. If you love to cook for yourself, I would strongly recommend this apartment.
