Our stay at V.G.I. was fantastic. We initially planned to stay for two days, but ended up staying a week. The longer we stayed, the more we enjoyed it—not just the accommodation, but the experiences we had. As nature lovers, we aimed to observe as many animals as possible, and we succeeded 100%. Some of our favorite sightings included giant hornbills, iguana, jardon's nightjar, giant squirrels, paradise flycatchers, pond herons, crocodiles, deer, and elephants. For transportation to Ihala Kottiyaba, there are buses from the new bus station in Anuradhpra at 12:00, 14:30, and 18:00. Alternatively, you can go to the Parasangavewa junction and take a tuk-tuk (or a3-hour walk :). What we loved most: -The friendly and helpful people in the surrounding villages. They will take care of you. -Our host, Muthalif. Everyone in the 20 km area knows him, so you can explore freely and still feel safe. -Great day trips with visits to lakes and forests, and meeting wonderful people. (We ended up at W.N park once,  didnt pay for safari or anything.) -Crocodiles cruising the nearby lake every morning after sunrise. -The delicious dinners. During the hottest hours, we enjoyed relaxing around the house. If you can't sleep in the heat, opt for the AC room.

Absolutely beautiful room, very new, the most comfortable bed we’ve had in Sri Lanka The location is perfect for visiting the historical sites and extremely beautiful and peaceful surroundings The staff and food were excellent, we stayed an extra night as we loved it . There are only three rooms so we felt very well cared for, nothing was too much trouble and they arranged a scooter for us and transport to our next stop. Highly recommended

Awesome homestead with a friendly family running this place. Owner is a local tourist guide, but still gives very helpful advice although not going on a tour with him. It's ideally located within walking distance to bus stop and as well the local temple complex. It's clean, got hot showers and even little things as an adapter for international plugs. The top rating has been in my opinion well deserved.

Loved staying at the Village Life Mihinthale. The room is clean, has comfy, soft bedding, and has all essentials.Good lighting and plenty of electric sockets to charge our devices and work with my laptop.The bathroom was spotless and excellent hot water, so easy to use. The host, Mr. Gihan, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His friendliness and hospitality were amazing. He arranged to show us the glamor of the sunset on Mihintale rock.There is a really nice viewpoint to watch the sunset and surroundings peacefully. The breakfast options were amazing.Host Gihan's mother made delicious Sri Lankan foods with love. Rice and curry was heavenly.Mr. Gihan arranged our transport, and the driver was also very professional. We love everything about this place. We will certainly be back!

Janaka is THE host—truly exceptional in the hospitality scene in Sri Lanka. He is incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel completely at home, while also being highly professional and attentive to all our needs. He went out of his way to help us plan our days in Mihintale exactly as we wished—and what he managed to organize for us was no small feat! He was also genuinely concerned for our safety throughout our stay: while Sri Lanka is a very safe country, his attentiveness was still much appreciated. The food cooked by his wife was amazing—made with quality ingredients, prepared beautifully, and full of bold, authentic flavor. Easily one of the top three meals we had in Sri Lanka. If you're planning a trip to Anuradhapura or Mihintale to explore the sacred Buddhist sites, and you're looking for something authentic and off the tourist trail, stay in Mihintale. It's rich with temples and spiritual atmosphere. Stay at Janaka’s place, ask him for advice, and you won’t be disappointed.

Very clean, spacious house. Quiet location so need own transportation. Large well maintained grounds with a tree house. Kitchen facilities available to use. Tea and drinking water was provided.We arrived late and left early the following morning so didn’t want to cook and so we had to drive10 mins to nearest restaurant. If you want peace and quiet this is the destination for you. Good value for money

We had an amazing stay at this holiday home in Anuradhapura. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and up to a high standard—much better than we expected for the price. The whole place felt relaxing and well maintained. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Anuradhapura.
