Tortora is a gem in the mountains above the sea and very close to Praia al Mare and the region of Maratea.

A beautifully renovated house from the 1800’s has a modern vibe with timbered ceilings. A balcony and long curtains. A towel warmer. A firm, comfortable bed. Breakfast served in the room. I just wanted to stay in the whole time and luxuriate. Easy to leave and go sightseeing because the hotel is right on the edge of the charming historic center. Best of all, though, was Miriana who kept in touch with me through a train strike and made sure I’d be able to check in regardless of my arrival time.

The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk and parking on-site. We could only stay in town for one night but was very pleased with our stay in this beautiful B&B with the warmest host, Vittorio. The room was large enough, modern (conveniently renovated and furnished), very fresh bathroom and a comfortable bed and pillows. There was a fridge in the room with water included. The communication with Vittorio beforehand was excellent and he accommodated our request to arrive late in the evening. Parking is included which is important in this busy town. Vittorio recommended a restaurant for dinner and called to reserve a last minute table (great restaurant who even gave us a discount since we lived with Vittorio). In the morning we choose an American breakfast which was lovely prepared by Vittorios wife.
