The owner running the place was very kind! He explained and showed everything to us that was usable in the hostel. There are multiple showers and toilets, as well as a kitchen and laundry available. For the price, it’s really great and I recommend it if you’re just looking for a place to stay the night!

This quirky house has been lovingly restored and updated by Nobu and her family who live next door. The amount and types of wood used in the construction of the house is incredible, from the wooden staircase and hand-crafted hand rail, to the curved wooden bathroom, giving the feel that you are inside a barrel. It includes the washing machine, a huge shower room and separate, very snazzy toilet. With all mod cons, we had a very comfortable week here. Even the futons were OK for this old, unaccustomed body. The bedroom is covered in beautiful, traditional tatami. The 3rd floor loft has a hammock and chairs with lovely views of the countryside, which you can also enjoy from the dining table downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and basic condiments are provided (oil etc), so it was easy to self cater. The house has air conditioners upstairs and down as well as kerosene heaters so we were very cosy despite record amounts of snow. We parked directly out front and the watering hose did a good job keep the area clear of snow. The supplied snow shovel and brush were a life saver. Our host family were sweet, taking time to ensure we understood all the facilities and gave us gifts of local food.

The location near the ski bus stop was ideal, the breakfast was a perfect start to each day, and the accommodation was spotless. But what truly set this place apart was the heartfelt hospitality of the hosts. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. They ensured we had all the information regarding transportation. Their generosity extended to offering us rides, making our stay incredibly convenient.

Chrám Zenkodži se nachází 31 km daleko a Nagano železniční stanice 33... Papa was so lovely. It was a beautiful traditional guest house. I had breakfast too and it was lovely. I also really appreciated lifts too and from ski school and to the train station. It was honestly such a beautiful stay and I will be back. For any solo travellers, it was a very family vibe and I felt very welcome. Thank you Papa!

Maruyama Onsen Kojyokan se nachází v Minami Uonuma, 2 km od rezortu Maiko Snow, a nabízí terasu a termální koupel. Na místě je soukromé neplacené parkoviště. Truly one of the most wonderful inns I’ve stayed at in all of my times in Japan! The place is immaculate and feels lovely and new while also having a wonderful 「懐かしい」 vibe to it. From the very start all of the staff were kind and considerate and showed us all the ropes! I adored that the entry into the rooms is all keyless—there’s touch keypads on the doors! We tried all three baths since we reserved the wonderful private rooftop bath. As an FYI for anyone unaccustomed to such a thing, the rooms themselves do not have showers—you’re meant to use the bath areas for your cleaning, so if you’re uncomfortable with the onsen experience in Japan just be aware! You totally should get over your anxieties and use the bath though—they’re relaxing and luxuriant! We had one dinner with them and two breakfasts, and all of the food was absolutely delightful! The breakfast was buffet style and full of local/seasonal ingredients, and the dinner was course after course and we were very very well fed. All in all, I can’t say enough wonderful things. We adored our stay!
