The lodge is small, personal, and full of charm – a hidden gem just about 25 minutes from Hluhluwe National Park. The rooms are beautifully decorated, combining modern comfort with African flair. Everything is clean, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. The food prepared by chef Happiness is very delicious. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated how well my dietary preferences were taken care of. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. I also enjoyed again the offered game drives in the lodge’s private reserve. They’re never rushed, and the guides take time to share their knowledge for the wildlife. Between activities, I enjoyed relaxing by the pool and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, watching wildlife that came by such as warthogs and Nyalas. The whole place has a warm vibe – it’s hard to leave. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

We enjoyed cocktails and dinner on site with the owners shared stories of life in South Africa.

Winner of Africa's Leading Luxury Lodge at the 2013 World Travel Awards, Thanda Safari brings man and nature together on a 14 000 hectare access-controlled private game reserve. Amazing experience! The camp itself is beautiful, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. They went out of their way to accommodate my vegetarian and gluten free dietary needs. The rest of my family fully enjoyed all the 'regular' food. The tents are spacious, well appointed, and....bug free! We did not have any shortage of hot water. The min-fridge is fully stocked (and included!). The safari drives do not disappoint. We saw plenty of 4 of the big five (minus the elusive leopard), and cheetah's and just about everything else. Hot water bottles and blankets were provided for chilly AM drives. The sun setter drinks in "the bush" were unforgettable. Overall - this was a wonderful stay.
